I watched it after the fact thanks to a cellphone video shared on Substack. I was appalled at the extremely rude, uninformed, and frankly biased presentation. The leaders of that LWV should be forced to resign from the organization. Thank you for everything you are doing. I’m a lifelong Democratic activist since 1968. I’ve never felt so upset at the current situation in the party. I want my party to win but they will continue to lose if they don’t support women and science. Supporting women is not a hate crime.

As an old gay man who did at least his fair share of rallying, marching, and public speaking in support of gay equality, I am deeply grieved by what we are now seeing as the result of allowing the AGP fetishists to attach themselves to us as parasites.. Their aim is clear: Trans away the gay! It's horrifying so many gay people with a public voice are willfully blind to it and to the way their preposterous demands are poisoning the public's opinion. Likewise the corruption of organizations that once were vigorous advocates for gay equality but now have enlisted under the Trans Away the Gay banner.

I feel sure anyone with the least inclination toward feminism thinks much the same. Let's face it, the DSM'S criteria for "Gender Dysphoria" (or whatever label the propagandists now want to adopt to confuse people) is little more than a list of sex stereotypes for kids that i thought had been discarded decades ago, thanks to feminist thought. And I'm glad to see that others have noticed the irony that the term "actress", which had largely disappeared some years ago, has been resuscitated for men masquerading as women.

It isn't "beating up on trans kids" (as it is invariably put by the trans propagandists) to expose the corrupt quacks who are poisoning and mutilating gay, abused, depressed, or autistic kids. Unfortunately, it looks like the spiritually elevated among Democrats, having seen the polling from the last election, are doubling down on the issue that may very well have put Trump back in power.

I agree. One particularly egregious consequence of this affirmation only insanity is the detrimental effect on gay children and on children with serious mental health issues. They are thrown to the trans wolves. It’s a tragedy. I’m an old straight women who is a former competitive athlete, a working artist, and worked in academia as an adjunct professor for two decades, all communities impacted. It’s hard to comprehend the craziness.

I was an activist my entire life, I grew up in segregated areas except for my Catholic grammar school, marched, celebrated the victories for women, minorities, same sex rights, etc. Now I’m called a transphobe, TERF,right winger, hate monger. It’s hard to understand.

Their incompetence on Zoom was immediately apparent. They were seemingly incapable of muting anyone and there was also one person using a slur in the chat.

Anyway, I agree with the demands. An organization that is unwilling to be honestly nonpartisan, and regulate its spaces in an unbiased, orderly, and safe way should not be doing the work that the NH LWV "attempted" the other day.

Also, Jonah wheeler is probably the only real progressive in the front of that room.

Yes, the Democratic Party has abandoned women.

I honestly don't believe that. Or more specifically, any appearance of such is passing.

I think that Democratic policy positions have been set by a small but loud maximalist cadre of activists with mixed motives: frightened parents, well-meaning liberals who "believe science" but filter it through a partisan oppositional lens, well-meaning liberals who believe that "trans is the new gay" despite the space between gender identity and sexual orientation, and activists who were left adrift after gay marriage actually passed into law. I believe that the narratives of those various actors are weak, and can easily be shown to be weak when confronted.

They manipulate the Democrats' support for women with their rhetoric, and ultimately it's that core of support for women that will bring their policies back around as the inherent contradictions in the transgender medical system that changed the minds of people like Jamie Reed continue to manifest.

And I would caution against a conservative turn, which I've seen some people make. There is no future for women's freedom and equality in conservatism. Most Republicans are against trans because they see it as an extension of homosexuality, as sexual deviance, and as interfering with the ability of people to biologically reproduce families. The Democrats are for it because they see it as an extension of minority rights, bodily autonomy, and sexual liberation. The Democratic values are better, and the point is to get them to understand the ways in which the contemporary transgender ideology can be materially homophobic, misogynistic, anti-sex, and anti-science.

How do you get them to understand? Did you see the stupid signs they held up saying that there would be genital inspections if men pretending to be women weren’t allowed in women’s changing rooms? Totally bonkers..how do you change that?

You respond calmly with sane responses I guess.

They know, or should know, that it's pretty easy to clock most trans-identified people, that few try and succeed at going stealth in this era of self-ID and pro-visibility, and if that's insufficient we can do cheek swabs, and a few bruised egos simply matter less than fair play for cis women.

No such thing as 'cis women'.

Beware of bullshit trans-lingo which operates as a marker for sympathisers.

One should use words that communicate clearly and keep arguments on the level of principles rather than words. Whether one says "women" or "cis women" or "females" or whatever depends on one's audience, so when responding to TRAs use language that will not distract from the point.

There's no benefit to holding a line on language if it means your interlocutor dismisses your arguments out of hand because you use terminology they believe to indicate (rightly or wrongly, doesn't matter) recalcitrant ignorance or overt bigotry.

Maybe a plate full of electoral 'reality' on this issue will wake them up in the midterms.

I worry that the actual harms caused by the Trump admin will overwhelm any distaste for Democratic excesses, and that the pendulum will just swing further.

I tried to join the zoom meeting at about 6 pm and got a message that the zoom had reached capacity and I could not join. I watched it later on a cellphone video. I support Rep Wheeler and his moderate, logical, well thought out views. The attacks on him were deplorable and based on the lies and ideology of a cult. I hope to see more of Rep Wheeler in the future!

Wow! I'm stunned the League of Women Voters cooperated in this ambush. It certainly isn't in keeping with the venerable organization's reputation for providing nonpartisan information for voters.

I signed into the Zoom at the announced time but left after about ten minutes, it was so disorganized and the Zoom operators seemingly not knowing what they were doing. Now I'm glad i didn't waste any more time on it.

They can't win through persuasion, so they have to resort to authoritarian-style censorship and defamation. Give them enough rope, and they will hang themselves when they get so drunk on their mendacious activism that they start scaring the normies.

Great letter, awful actions by lwv. I hope Representative Wheeler knows how many people support him, how many Democrats support him, in particular, and want the party to listen to him and follow his lead, not push him out.

Also, the event was billed as a Q&A for Reps. Wheeler and Leishman. Leishman didn't show, but Executive Councilor Karen Liot Hill appeared out of nowhere and was given equal time, which the white Ivy League grad used to pummel a young African American man.

Dan Gross “Siting unsubstantiated claims of fears by women who feel their space may be infringed upon, ignoring the More Significant And Prevalent Fears That Transgender Individuals Struggle With”

WTF! Couldn’t be clearer in that statement, biological women DONT MATTER only the transgender individual. 🤬 off dude! This statement makes me SO 🤬angry! This is what so many democrat progressive liberals have essentially said to me in regards to my stance on all of this. Doesn’t even matter that I’ve been a progressive liberal forever or that I’ve been sexually assaulted, molested, abused and harassed by men most of my life. I have no right to not want men where I feel most vulnerable in bathrooms, locker rooms etc. places where I’m naked and exposed. Yeah where the HELL is the #MeToo movement now!?! So grateful to Jamie and the crew for going to stand with Jonah. I called him and emailed him thanking him for his speech about the bill and I’m going to do it again.

I am no longer a Democrat but I always respected their passion and purpose, even if I disagreed.

No more.

Both they and The League of Women Voters seem completelty captured by radical progressive elements that, if left unchecked, will destroy the Democratic party as an honorable, loyal and essential component of a healthy democracy.

And that is becoming frighteningly more possible each day.

Shameful. I won't give the League of Women Voters another dime while they continue to support this chaos. I've also rescinded my contributions to the ACLU and other formerly progressive organizations because of their lunacy on the "trans" issue.

Sad to say, ‘Perfectborough’ has turned into a perfect s-hole.

Their extreme leftist politics, and arrogance trust-fund-baby mentality, are not only driving businesses away - but adjacent towns are desperately trying to escape the CONVAL education cartel.

I give Jonah a lot of credit for bravely wading into their ideological cesspool.
