So many things discussed in this article are so disturbing. Living in Washington with a ROGD child, we have first hand experience with institutional indoctrination and the law allowing 13 year olds to make medical and mental health decisions. It has been devastating to our family and, as a parent who does not buy into the gender affirming model, a very isolating experience.
This protest letter sent to Seattle Pride may interest you. I (Justine Deterling) live in WA and wrote this with other LGB people with connections to the state.
This post took me on a trip down memory lane, as my spouse, Josie, is an educator and has been following this issue closely and writing about it for quite a while. Folks here might be interested in what she uncovered in reviewing the materials that were being used in schools in her hometown of Swindon (including 84 instances of the word “porn,” along with all the rest). Most Democrats even now have absolutely no idea what is being taught in their schools. For that reason alone, your post is yet another public service from the brilliant team at the Courage Coalitjon. Here’s a link to Josie’s post from 2023, if of interest: https://www.josieholford.com/telling-lies-to-the-young-is-wrong/
Many excellent points are made in this article. One of the most common sensical is that we don't allow religious ideological perspectives to be promoted in our classrooms, so why would we treat secular ideological perspectives any differently? Gender ideology is simply a subjective "belief system" completely untethered from material reality and science. It has no place whatsoever in a classroom - period. There really should be nothing "controversial" about banning its promotion within schools.
Why? Because trans activists and their zealous trans allies absolutely refuse to acknowledge that gender identity ideology is a secular ideological perspective or a matter of belief.
To the contrary, they want society in general and kids in particular to believe that changing sex (or gender, whatever that is) is as normal and natural a childhood experience as losing a tooth and having a new tooth grow in. Actually, the analogy a trans activist would be more likely to use is that being trans is as natural as being gay, so that being opposed to teaching kids that trans is normal would seem as wrong and bigoted as telling kids there's something wrong about being gay. (I have a stake in this because while I am gay, I am strongly opposed to gender ideology.)
Do trans activists really believe that? Who knows. What matters is that those activists and their cause carry tremendous weight among many Democrats, especially progressives. As far most Democratic elected officials and rank-and-file members are concerned, trans is real and anyone who disagrees is a terrible person and a hater.
One way to deal with this would be to require that any and all teaching about human behavior and sexuality be as firmly rooted in science and classroom materials used for teaching math and science. The objective would be to exclude materials written by crackpot philosophers like Judith Butler and others of the same ilk.
It's really bad for both the ROGD girls and the ROGD boys (check out https://www.rogdboys.org/ ), boys also have a rise in adolescents with mental health comorbidities etc. Slightly later than the girls perhaps because males on average hit puberty later than girls. And for males who are raised in progressive environments there is internalized hatred and fear of growing up into toxic masculinity, which some of them think is all that being male involves....
Teaching kids they are stereotypes is a disaster. Teaching kids self-hatred or hatred of others is a disaster, especially based on stereotypes.
As Rowling & others have pointed out, youth are @ risk, both Exulansic & Glinner have been canceled for naming victims & abusers of mutilating, sterilizing, castrating, life hormonal regime "gender affirming care", Rowling states it's done more harm than last century's lobotomies & repressed memory syndrome, Mengele did this a century ago in camps, now people pay $ & not all survive (sepsis, suicide). Meanwhile RTA threaten youth suicide & trans genocide to push their literally sick for-profit agenda, detransition civil suits are the result but where are the criminal charges?
There is a reason that trans activists and their zealous cishet trans allies want to teach kids gender identity ideology in their schoolrooms. If children did not receive instruction on gender ideology they would never, ever come to it on their own in a million years.
Unlike sexual orientation, which manifests itself naturally in a young person's life with the onset of puberty and is a real socio-biological phenomenon with a history that is probably as old as humankind itself, gender ideology and the culture it spawned are the products of 20th and 21st century philosophy that are without precedent in human history and culture.
Sex ed and programs aimed at gay and lesbian adolescents are rooted in human biology and human experience. They are meant to prepare youth to handle the likely future social and biological of their sexuality. In contrast, classroom teaching about gender presents concepts that were created out of whole cloth not long ago by philosophers as if they were real biological and social phenomena. Kids then think and act accordingly as agents of reification, mistakenly thinking that the Gender Unicorn embodies universal truths about human existence when it's just a pernicious fairy tale.
Since Trumpf is out for Dept. of Education, don't mistake this for anything other than conservative reactionary appeal to his base, any more than stipulating male & female only was in any ways feminist from grab her by the 🙀 adulterous whoremonger.
It is my understanding that Trump's first executive order on gender reflected the input of moderate gender critical women who are in no way part of MAGA world.
In any case, this is a unique situation in which Trump's interests and those of his base happen to overlap with ours. I would love it if Trump and his administration had the discipline and focus to follow through on those executive orders and bring about badly needed reforms to curb the excesses of trans activism. Sure, the executive orders have made trans activists and their Democratic allies even more committed to defend the indefensible. But imagine if the EOs survive legal challenges and harmful policies and practices start being struck down across the country.
Having said that, Trump and the people in his orbit are dangerous and unreliable allies of convenience when it comes to gender. I am waiting for the Fundiegelicals to get their due from Trump in the form of an executive order that harms gay and lesbian Americans. Also, I am afraid that the fiery animus that comes through in places in Trump's executive orders on gender and trans might cause the Supreme Court to rule in favor of trans kids in the Skmetti case that will be decided this year.
Meghan Murphy interviews EO author May Mailman here, their ignorance on Canada as 51st staate had me unsubscribe, good example of being both right & WRONG (Mailman doesn't know what Montreal is & she's been there, she thinks it's tunnels, no wonder she can work for Trumpf).
It's not just a reactionary appeal to his base. This issue moved people to the Republicans according to Democrats' own polling. The more people find out what trans activism does, disdain grows. It's the Ds, who are all doubling down, who need to understand support for chemical castration drugs on tweens and boys in girls' sports isn't destined to be on the popularity upswing again. The trans movement's honeymoon period of 2017 isn't coming back.
A major difference between the parties is that the Democrats are rigorous in the consistency of their messaging. They control most of the mainstream media with the repetition of word-for-word talking points. Their analyses and selective facts regarding core issues (i.e., January 6, Covid, DEI) are repeated word-for-word every day on the news, regardless of their veracity, which reinforces the messages they want the voters to absorb. There's a conspicuous lack of information on any issue that the Democrats don't want to amplify, but no one is the worse for wear, since we can't know what we don't know, especially if we believe we’re already perfect.
One example was the manner in which Biden's mental decline was hidden from the Democrats. As long as they consumed only liberal media, they never saw Biden fall off his bicycle or trip up the stairs, get disoriented on stage and require his wife’s assistance, or ramble incoherently, which we were always told was caused by his "childhood stutter."
This is also why, when a child suddenly declares a trans identity, parents are gobsmacked as their worlds are turned upside down. They've been kept in the dark, ignorant of the trans indoctrination going on in school, enabled by activist members of the American Federation of Teachers with Randy Weingarten at the helm, including the dissemination of LGBTQ books, banners and comics targeted at children from K-12.
In the name of education, the Democrats have obfuscated and advanced an agenda that parents deeply oppose.
Now contrast that with the no holds-barred approach of Donald Trump. He doesn't care if you like his style. Rather than waste time with public-relations/user-friendly messaging and kinder-than-thou rhetoric to mask his motivations, he came right out said it: we’re going to stop indoctrinating children in a toxic ideology designed to destroy their bodies and mental health and alienate them from the only people who truly love them, their parents. And while we’re at it, we'll throw in some civics so our kids know what country they live in and why it matters.
To the Democrats, Trump's executive order looks like another power grab that he has no right to. Oh, but he does. When Biden unilaterally added the word "gender" to Title IX and in the process eradicated women as a sex class with specific rights and protections, nobody except the TERFS, female athletes, and incarcerated women said BOO. Well, the election was a gigantic BOO.
"A major difference between the parties is that the Democrats are rigorous in the consistency of their messaging. They control most of the mainstream media with the repetition of word-for-word talking points."
This is all the more remarkable for being such a rare feat among Democrats. Their message discipline on other issues is pretty sloppy.
The Dem's main trans talking point now that gender ideology is coming under fire from the White House is that so very few people are trans that it is foolish to waste any valuable time focusing on trans instead of, say, childhood hunger. It is especially popular among Dem office holders and operatives to claim that some states have no biological males on women's-only teams while others have just one or two.
These are the same people who love to say that Critical Race Theory is not taught in K-12. Well, sure. A person can probably take a highbrow course on CRT at Yale Law. However, what is also certain is that millions of American school kids are being taught concepts that emerged from CRT.
Yes, this is happening: “Schools now affirm gender identity without parental consent, introduce dissociation and body hatred, and push vulnerable youth—especially autistic and gender-nonconforming kids—toward irreversible medical interventions.”
“In some states, such as Washington, minors as young as 13 can access these interventions without parental consent, compounding the risks. This isn’t just medical malpractice—it’s child abuse dressed up as progressive care.”
And another yes, this is happening too: “Vulnerable youth, especially lesbian and autistic teens, are pressured to identify as trans, harming their development. This reveals an ideology prioritizing agenda over evidence and ethics.”
And sad but true: “Activists introduce dissociation and body hatred into children’s lives, glorifying extreme body modification and identity instability.”
And I agree: "I have never seen youth so mentally unwell or sexually confused. The data supports this observation. We must protect struggling children through holistic, ethical approaches—not pseudoscience.”
“The Consequences of Biology Denialism” are profound. Be careful about what you affirm.
If I were not afraid of being arrested and of being slapped with civil lawsuits by the school district, teachers and even some students on bogus grounds (e.g., I caused them to feel unsafe), I would show up at the nearest Portland public school where gender ideology is being taught and engage in a non-violent protest on the steps of the building.

I'm referring specifically to the EO, written by a woman.
